Few hundred people were evacuated from villages around a mine company town Freeport to Timika city in Tembagapura district in Mimika Regency of Papua Province, Indonesia, due to activated armed conflict between the West Papua National Liberation Army and Indonesian army.
Population of Opitawak and Banti villages were completely removed. Firearms fighting with drones and helicopters usage take place in the mounted area near the Freeport Mine. About ten civilians were reportedly injured. About one hundred local workers became locked between fighting groups near Tembagapura Police Station.
